About us

Our story

A message from founder Koen Baerends:

I grew up on a dairy farm south of Leduc, and always had a passion for farming, which lead to my studies culminating in a Diploma of Animal Science at Lakeland College. Shortly after completing my studies, I traveled and worked in New Zealand for a year, where I was first introduced to the unique techniques involving drones in agrigulture and industrial applications. Upon returning to Canada, I wanted to bring these techniques back with me, and started Northern Aerobitics in 2025.

Over 5100 acres covered since 2025.

Our Fleet

Our fleet features a number of drones and support equipment to solve a wide range of problems.

Our flagship drone is the DJI T100, with a 200lbs (100kg) lifting capacity, 150L spreading tank, and 20 m/s (70km/h, 38 knots) flightspeed. The T100 is equipped with LiDAR, RADAR, and multiple cameras. A second T100 will be joining our fleet in Spring 2027.

We also have the DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise, which boasts 45 minutes of flight, wide and thermal cameras, and centimeter-level positioning, and is extremely capable for surveying and videography.

Lastly, we have the DJI Mavic 3 Pro, with its versatile triple-camera system, supporting 4K video at 120fps at up to 43 minutes of flight, supporting all your videography needs.

Additionally, we bring all the neccessary accessory and support equipment, including a 35' gooseneck trailer pulled behind our 2012 Dodge 3500 Dually, and a MQ Whisperwatt 45 KVA diesel generator.
